infection not going away!?!

I got diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis about a week and a half ago. We are TTC so we have been having a lot of sex, so I'm sure that's where it's coming from. I'm all done my meds As of two days ago. I called yesterday because I'm still having extreme symptoms and I can't stand it. My period just decided to show her face last night, so a pad or tampon isn't ideal right now.. when I called the doctor she told me to give it a few more days and stop having sex to see if that helps...
