Birth Control Pill Tips?

Hey ladies! I'm 16 and just starting birth control for the first time. I'm taking the pill and I literally just picked up the meds today. My mom told me to start when my period begins and guess what... My period just started unexpectedly!

I'm taking it to help with acne, cramps, regulating my cycle, and lightening my flow. I consoluted with my doctor and she said those are valid reasons and all things it will help. I'm not having sex yet and don't plan on doing so for at LEAST 6 months.

So I was wondering what are some tips from you older, more experienced ladies? What do you wish you knew or what helps you with your birth control, etc.

I would say to set an alarm on your phone so you can take it the same time everyday, but you aren't taking to prevent pregnancy. But, it's still important to take them around the same time. 
It takes time for your body to adjust (they say 3 months) so you may experience things like spotting outside of your period, headaches, etc. Or you may be lucky and will not!
