**UPDATE!!** Should cat get a new home?

K
Thank you all who gave me the best advice on how to deal with our cat's pee-pee problem. As an update, we completely scrubbed down all areas of basement including the walls with cleaner. We bought another litter box and placed it in a diffwrent location--a corner where he had been peeing. We have been showering him with attention and acknowledging him whenever he comes into a room (he meows back when we say "hi" and ask him how he's doing or what he's up to). I even go so far as to tuck him into his cabana at night after tucking my boys in their beds. I've also given him extra time to play outside and explore. All this and the situation has resolved with no more issues. I ended up not taking him to the vet because he had improved so well by the time of his appointment, and he was in such good spirits. Still haven't had any episodes with him and it's been quite a while. I'm sure he was just sensing that I was pregnant and things were going to change for him like his last family. And as I type this update, he is sleeping with his head on my belly, purring, while I rock him gently in the rocking chair. He seems much happier, thank you for all of your advice. You all helped me to not make a horrible mistake and give him away. We love our Mr.  Bojangles ❤️😺!
2 yrs ago my family got a WONDERFUL cat f/the Humane Society. We love him and he's a great little character. Here's the problem & I need your advice: Kitty-cat's previous owners had to give him up because the mother of the home became pregnant and the cat started peeing in the laundry baskets, in their piles of laundry, and areas other than litter box. They said he was doing this even tho they kept his litter box very clean with daily cleanings. When we brought him home, we had no issues with him peeing outside of his box, and we keep his box very clean. Btw, he is neutered, so that's not the issue. The issue is now I am pregnant and guess what... Kitty started repeating this behavior and we discovered he had been peeing in an empty laundry basket we don't use and elsewhere, including bedding. We couldn't figure out why or where the smell was coming from. It's rancid and I've done EVERYTHING imagineable to remove the smells from everywhere. I'm exhausted and can't keep this up. Is it time to find a new home for our beloved pet? My house still reeks 🤢😟!!!
