Is it right to change someone?

Following a post I've just seen, my question is "Do you think it's right to change someone?"
For example, if you met someone who was a gambler, did drugs, drinks alcohol but is not an addict, you didn't like those qualities would you get romantically involved with them and try to change them?
Personally if I met someone who did drugs and I absolutely despised drugs then no, I wouldn't go near them romantically. In my opinion why force someone to change and use things such as 'if you don't stop I'll leave you'. Why put both parties through heartache when it could potentially go wrong. Now I'm not saying people can't change and that they don't want to change. I imagine there are some people who work it out, perfectly fine and I accept that. But I wouldn't start a romantic relationship UNLESS the other person gave up their 'habit' or whatever it may be, by their own accord. Let me know what your thoughts are in the comments.
Note: I apologise in advance if this offends anyone I am just genuinely curious as to what people think 💭
