Nurse problems

I was informed tonight that the nurses at the hospital I'll be delivering at have changed how they completely bathe the baby. I guess they completely dunk the baby in water getting it completely wet and then washing it and drying. To me that just doesn't seem right? Especially since I thought you couldn't do that because of the umbilical cord? They do it in your room and you can watch or help whatever but if that's how they do it i don't want them doing it. Any advice or feedback I can get from this? I'm a ftm so I'm not sure what to expect but this just doesn't really sound right to me.
