If I have a son, should it be the forth?

My husbands name is john Joseph. So is his dad and his grandpa. So that makes him a third. It's not Jonathan it's just john. I'm not a fan of one syllable names but he wants a forth. Both of our parents say to give our son (if we have one) his own name and I agree. I just can't see me calling my baby john....

Let your son have his own identity. I'm assuming your will carry on his father's surname, I think that's enough family name to carry. I find it egotistical of people to want their children to have their name. Not to mention to can cause credit issues in adulthood.

My son is William Francis 5th and even though I hate it at times I also love it because it is special. He also goes by Liam though and doesn't even realize his real name is William (he's 3) so I'm ok with it lol.

i was on that situation but my issue here is really tradition. i'm having a baby girl but if it where a boy it could only be called one thing... Simeao ... cause since the 1800 whatever year of his family all males in the family can only be called that or antonio, one generation to the next and only the 1st born son of the 1st malé can follow the tradition.... very feudal and anoying... it's likely that if i have a boy in the future this argument will be more intense :D as its a girl the 1st born i Gave her what we discussed and still ppl think it's because of religion... i'm done with complicated feudal ppl lol he can handle his side of the family for all i care 😁😁😁
