Early sono?

I am currently 4 wks 5 days and just called to set up my first OB appt for tomorrow morning. The girl on the phone mentioned having a sonogram done when I get there, has anyone else had a sono this early? It's not even early enough to hear the heartbeat I believe, it just seems odd.

They are assessing placement of the pregnancy. Making sure it is in the uterus where it should be.

I just went and did that today I'm 4 week 5days as well and you can't really see anything. I think they just wanted to make sure it was where it was supposed to be

Don't be scared if they don't see anything. That's too early to even see the fetal pole I believe. Maybe they're just trying to get extra money from you. You could ask they wait until you're closer to 6 weeks that way you don't have to go back multiple times.

Typically around the 6 week mark is the earliest they check measurements and heart beats.

No. The earliest I had mine was at 6wks 1day... Then they were able to see everything including the heartbeats.
