How long did you wait before talking to your doctor about fertility?

My dh and I are going on month 3 of ttc. We had a miscarriage almost exactly 2 years ago and I was too traumatized to try again until recently. We both have one child
from previous marriages. I'm 29, but my husband is turning 40 in December. I'm feeling anxious to get pregnant asap because of HIS clock. How long did you wait before you approached your doctor for fertility testing?

Most Drs wont see you for fertility until you have been trying for a year when the woman is under 35, over 35 it is only 6 months. Even if the man is over 35. (we have about a 10 year age difference too) Unless you already have some factors that cause infertility such as PCOS or something like that.

Give it at least a year of TTC. If you're over 35, they usually say to give it 6 months. From what I understand, men's clocks are not as tight as ours. 
But if you're concerned, many clinics (at least where I live) will do sperm testing at any time.

We waited 2 years. We tried naturally for 2 years then did treatments for a year and a half. Neither of us have kids. I'm 26 he is 37 our first IVF baby is due in September
