my fiancé really wants to go into the military. help?!

My amazing, loving, dedicated fiancé really wants to join the military. But I am increasingly terrified! He was trying to go into the marines but he can't gain enough weight and he was making himself sick :( so now he doesn't know what to do! If anyone has any advise or help it would be very much appreciated thank you loves!

My husband is in the Navy, married him after he joined and have been married coming up on a year. It’s not horrible. It’s stable and his job being there is what we count on most. Marine life is very hard, for both of you. If he can’t make the weight requirements he should try Navy. They give good benefits and the just has to be healthy. I say marry him before he joins, it would make everything so much easier also with housing and bah and bas. (Extra pay) the away time isn’t horrible. It’s average and yes it really freaking sucks but with marines it’s harder and longer and tougher. They sometimes will go to 3rd world countries, to battle zones depending on what he does. Im not recommending any branch over the other but me as a military wife I’d never let my husband switch unless it’s to the airforce.

I am in the military and my spouse is also military. I’m navy and he is a marine. Most of the marines I know to put on weight they eat a lot of meat and build extra muscle. If he is having trouble with the weight I can talk to my spouse and our friends and see what exactly they do to put on weight. But I’m leaving for Japan and he is going to Cali for 2 years each. The distance when you are separated is the hardest part of it all. He’s at an undeployable command at the moment but those aren’t as common. Marines is hard but as long as you have faith in your relationship it will all work out.
