Over stressing??

Question

Going to Jamaica for 5 days (I am 5wks pregnant). Concerned about Zika virus... I've read a little about how to prevent/avoid mosquitos, plus we will be at a resort where they fog regularly...

Anybody else go somewhere recently where Zika was stressed as a concern but everything was fine?

I went to ft lauderdale Florida and I was really freaked out about Zika, but I used bug spray and wore long sleeves at night. However, I know Florida has been really good about keeping the mosquito population under control and taken a lot of precautions across infected areas. You should research if your area is doing anything to prevent travelers from getting infected. Jamaica might not be safe and you really don't want to risk a lifetime of hardship for your child fover one small vacation. Your doctor will also probably recommend skipping the trip. Maybe you can rebook to a safer destination?

My doctor said absolutely no traveling anywhere with Zika at any point in the pregnancy. Not enough research and the risk is too great.

If you can, I'd cancel the trip. I just turned down an all paid trip to Cabo 😩. Oh well, next year.
