Bible study Thursday (05/25/2017)

Hello Ladies. I pray that the Lord is showering grace and favor over each and everyone of you. I just thought I would share with you some verses that really convicted me when I first truly gave my life over to the Lord God and our savior Jesus Christ. They convicted me because I was what they called wishy washy. One day I was a warrior for the Lord then they next day or that night I was a hell cat. In other words I was milk warm. I would hear what I needed to do, then do the opposite. Oh, I would be great after church, but after a while I would return to my sinful self. Then one day while listening to a pastor on the radio he, he was preaching from the book of James. When he read out the verses I became ashamed. My heart tightened up from the shame. So I said this can't be let me read for myself.

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain. Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

James 1:19‭-‬27 KJV

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do. Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

James 1:19‭-‬27 NIV

I was so convicted because I called myself a saint, saved, a Christian but I was more vicious than sinner. I would snap on people without thinking. I was still trying to drink and smoke weed. I was one of those people that gave Gods people a bad name. God found a way to hold a mirror to me, that I could not refuse the image I say. Ladies everything we hear a word from God of read the word of God it is our chance to look in the mirror and change ourselves. When we ask for guidance, God will show it to us. But don't be a reader that reads the word but don't obey or a hearer that hears the word but don't obey. Strive each day to obey the Lord and pray for his strength alone the way. Amen
