what kind of wedding?

Curious as to who DIDNT have a big wedding... I've been to quite a few in my life, and the stress is not my style. I've always wanted to get married on a beach. Just me, my fiancé, immediate family and maybe my best friend present. I don't even know if I want a ceremony and I rather spend the money on our honeymoon. Has anyone done anything like this? (Or even elope just at home). Any regrets? Pros and cons?

My husband and I eloped. We both had issues with each other's family at the time we wanted to and just decided to go to the courthouse on our 5yr anniversary. Best decision ever. We paid $35 to get our marriage license. We were our own witnesses so no one knew. Went to a fancy dinner and went home to call family.

I just got married on the beach! We had about 30 people and it was perfect! So much less stress, and it really made the day about us as a couple, not some party.

We had a small wedding. Maybe 30 people, and that's including the wedding party. We got married outside under a gazebo, with the sun setting behind up and surrounded by strings of white light's. Our reception consisted of a buffet style of finger foods and it was held in the local community center. Our wedding cost about $2000 in all. We didn't have a honeymoon, but the money we received as gifts, and the money we had saved was used to start our first home together.

Me and my husband got married last year in a 300 year old country house here in ireland. There were 15 people including him and myself. And it was perfect. The whole thing including dresses, suits, etc etc cost around 3000. I wouldnt change a thing!!

We planned our wedding in 2 weeks, and it was perfect! About 20 close family and friends. My best friend wrote the ceremony, my hubby's best friend got ordained to marry us. We had the ceremony at the park, then lunch at a restaurant.

Then a month later we got professional wedding pictures done, and then that fall when we went home to see family we had a reception party, since his family wanted to celebrate. It was great! No stress!

We also had a small wedding just our immediate families. Didn't invite friends, didn't have bridal party etc. We did the ceremony at noon in a beautiful park and had a nice lunch, open bar at restaurant overlooking the ocean. It was very easy to plan and I never got stressed out. If I ever feel like we "missed out" on a large wedding perhaps we will renew our vows in future with larger party. I also did not want to spend thousands of dollars for one day and I hate being center of attn so our wedding was perfect.

The only con is I had old friends and people I barely talk to anymore complaining that they didn't get invited but it was our day so no regrets.
