I grew up having had a few big deal birthdays... my 5th birthday and my 15th (quinceañera.) All other birthdays were with immediate family sometimes a few cousins and aunts and uncles- my mom would cook or grill and we would cut a cake. Kinda a last minute get together that basically happened in my family anyway just because minus a cake. Just family eating together and talking. My husband grew up where they planned EVERY birthday- sent out invites, selected a venue had a DJ coordinated plates and napkins, basically themed out with goody bags and all. His family still does this (minus the goodie bags 😂) now that they're grown- like themed out catered parties for all family members no matter how old with DJ and everything (they have 3 DJs in the family that set out all equipment always) Its kinda irritating- party basically every weekend. I go because my husband is there and they're now my family also but he gets mad that we don't do this for my nephew (my sister's son) every year. He's expecting me to do this for our child every year and I think it's just to much. Am I weird? Like getting cupcakes for school isn't enough? 😂 Geez.
