How much does it cost to have a home delivery with a midwife?

It just depends on the area you live in and if your insurance will cover anything. When I had my daughter almost 3 years ago our midwife's fee was $3,000 for all the prenatal visits, the birth and the postpartum visits. But our insurance covered all but $800-$1,000 of it.

In my area it costs around 5k. And insurance *may* reimburse afterward, but upfront it is out of pocket a tough :( worth it imo though, because with the hospital it seemed like bills just kept coming, and we'd ask if we had been sent everything yet and be told yes, yet more charges would show up a few weeks later. It was such a headache. I'd rather know everything is paid and done with.

Find certified NURSE midwives in your area that offer home births and call them. Avoid anyone who doesn't have that title.
