work from home full time

Melissa
I'm going back to work in July or August. I found a nanny to watch my son at her house 3 days a week for 5 hours a day. She is less then 3 miles away. She will only be watching him. I'm still torn if I'm ok with dropping him off and him not being here at my house. He will be almost 3 months old. What are your thoughts? I originally thought having him at someone's house is easier since i work from home so I don't feel restricted in my own house, now I get upset thinking about it. Just need some opinions or advice. I'm a recruiter and my job consists of emails and phone calls majority of my day. The calls with candidates I can usually control and schedule at my convenience. Thanks all!

I work from home and my son goes to daycare every day. My employer doesn't allow us to be caring for children during work hours. It was terrifying at first, I felt so awful and so anxious about it, but it's been great. There was one day I had him stay home with me because daycare was closed, and that was SOOOO hard, he needed my constant attention and he was so thrown off by me trying to work around taking care of him. I've also had him here a couple times with another caregiver (my sister or my SO) and that was difficult too, he'd cry because he knew I was in the house but I couldn't take care of him. Daycare out of the house is truly the best option for me even though I think some days are a little depressing to be in our home but he's not there. But a definite plus--I get to use my lunch break to clean the house or exercise so I don't have to worry about that and juggling baby time after work or on the weekends.

Honestly I completely lucked into it and working from home didn't happen until after I spent an entire year training in the office. I was hired years ago, before I was even ttc so I wasn't really looking for home jobs so I'm not super sure how easy they are too find.

Hey Melissa, late to reply but I work from home and have for about 3 years. My baby is NOT at home with me while I'm working because there is absolutely no way I would be able to do my job and take care of him. He's in daycare for 3 days and with grandparents for the other 2. A nanny at our home wasn't an option because of the high cost in my area, but it wouldn't work regardless. My job can be very phone heavy and there is absolutely no way I could do it with a baby in the background, I'd be locked up in my office and miserable!I've been back for 6 weeks and I've finally adjusted and things seem normal. Hope if you've gone back or if you're going back soon it isn't too bad!Try to meet a friend during your first week for lunch, just you!

I work from home full time and my child is one of my top reasons why. I do not want her in daycare or with some stranger all day. If I'm home all day then there's zero point in my mind to pay for daycare when I'm right there and perfectly capable of taking care of her. I want that time with her and I'm incredibly fortunate to have been able to build a business that not only helps support our family but allows me time at home and flexibility in my schedule to care for our daughter. Yes, it takes some adjusting at first to get into a good routine but I'm now 5 weeks postpartum and couldn't imagine my daily routine and life without her in it. I do a lot of baby wearing some days lol

My Lo is one year and I've worked from home since he was three months and it's been the best decision. I hired a nanny to come to my home for three days a week for 8 hours and it means that I get to see his first steps, and developmental stages that I'd be so sad to miss. But that's because I've been working from a desk in my bedroom. If I need head space, I go to a cafe but then I can still check in on my LO and nanny on the nanny cam, which I find calming and helpful. Hope that helps!

I worked from home with caregivers coming to my home for the first 6 weeks back to work. It was very distracting in good and bad ways. I then shifted to 3 days at daycare out of home, that was great. Now she's 8 mos and better with the bottle and I am fine with her at daycare every day.
