Hiccups and no burps

My son is 6 days old and I'm exclusively breastfeeding. I know that burps are fewer if you BF but I can't ever get him to burp. I've tried the three main holds, over shoulder, sitting cupping his chin, and laying flat cupping his chin. He tends to get hiccups a lot and I'm assuming there's a correlation to his nonburping?  He doesn't spit up so that's one positive. Any mom's with any tips to get him to burp and stop the hiccups from one exhausted mom to another?  Thanks!!!!

Baby will likely get hiccups even if he burps. Mine sure did and she was a champion burper lol.You could try putting him on his tummy on top of the dryer and turning it on. The motion will likely make him pass gas and the warmth and sound will soothe him.

Hiccups are harmless so I wouldn't worry about it unless your baby seems uncomfortable or is having other symptoms. Hiccups can be caused from eating too fast or even over eating. So maybe try smaller more frequent feedings. But if it doesn't seem to bother your baby then I wouldn't worry about it. They always grow out of it, my son got them about 4 times a day when he was newborn and when he got to about a month old he got them maybe once a day and then stopped getting them unless we were playing and he was laughing alot. But don't stress the little things, new mommas have enough to worry about ;)

Breastfeeding they DO need to burn because they can gulp down more air. I always bounced to get my baby to burb. We still breastfeed, but now at 5 months I can't burb him anymore otherwise it will spew everywhere because of reflux. If baby isn't complaining or isn't gassy (yet) I wouldn't worry about it too much for the time being.

My girl was the same . I would be trying t9 get a burp out of her for like 45 mins. It drove me crazy. My dr told me to try for 10. Mins and if nothing comes out don't stress about it.

I didn't breastfeed my little girl but she really was a nightmare for burping! I use to lay her across my knees face down and rub her back which would sometimes work. Another thing I done was sit her up then lay her back down and done that slowly a few times and she would eventually. She wouldn't take her bottles warm to begin with, only room temperature which I found use to stop her bringing up wind so I would give her some warm water and that done the trick! I always give her warm water when she gets hiccups as well, usually gets rid of them.
