While nursing a 6m old on my lower arm? As long as I take care of it properly and go to a proper shop?

It's actually safe as long as you go to a good place. The only risk of tattoos while breastfeeding is infection but that won't happen unless you're going to a crappy place. Not ink is going to your baby or anything crazy like that.

It's always good to go to a proper shop but most of the time, you get an infection once you leave. While pregnant and breast feeding, your immune system is low, so it is easier to get infections.

It's not recommended to get a tattoo while nursing. Even though the risk of contracting hep a, b or c or hiv is low...it's still a risk that you could expose yourself and your child to.

This is a good question. I had no clue this was a bad thing. I got a tattoo on my forearm a couple months ago when my daughter was 9 months old. I've ebf her since birth. I actually took her out to feed her right before I got my tattoo and the artist didn't say anything to me about breastfeeding and new tattoos being a no no. Haven't had any issues with my baby since, but I'll be sure to mention it to my doc at her next appointment just in case there's some side effect I should be looking out for. 😕
