dental work during pregnancy?

I have 2 teeth that have recently broke and are causing me a lot of pain. I'm only 6w1d pregnant. Is it safe for me to get the teeth fixed?

I was supposed to get a root canal done two weeks ago but found out I was pregnant. Was told it's safer to wait until second trimester but if you can't, most dentists will require an OK from your OB before they will do anything.

If there is any infection present, it can get in your blood stream which can affect your fetus. Yes please go get it checked. Local anesthesia can be used during pregnancy. It's outdated to think it's only safe in 2nd Tri.

Depending on the severity of the condition the worst time to receive treatment is Trimester 1, and best time is Trimester 2. That being said you must talk to your dentist, and ask him to collaborate with your physician to come up with a plan that is best suited for your situation.
