what are some foods you give your babies!

Question

What are some foods (non puréed) that you give your 6 months old to eat for meals!!! Just looking for some other things my son could eat! He gets so bored of the purée and shows so much interest in "real" food that wvwehone eats around him! It's hard because his first tooth just broke through! Thanks for your suggestions in advance!! ☺️

This is from a post in the baby led weaning group that you might find helpful. Gagging is totally normal and actual choking is rare as long as you stay away from things that are the same size and shape as their airway. Good luck, Momma!

I give my son toast with unsalted butter, scrambled eggs, steamed broccoli, cucumber sticks, pieces of red peppers, pieces of apple or banana and baby wafers. I'm also starting to add textures to his puree - making it less smooth and adding things like bits of chopped up chicken or pasta.

Have you done a baby first aid course OP? You may feel more confident with feeding solids and less nervous about choking if you know what to do if it does happen.  The course I did was really helpful.

My daughters doctor said only vegetables until Year 1.  Otherwise they get hooked on sugar from fruits and have a harder time liking vegetables.  I haven't started foods yet though. I'm skipping cereals and empty snacks.  Breastfeeding only right now.  She's growing well!  😃

My baby's pediatrician said to only give cereals and purée until 9months old. Not worth the choking hazard

We have tried avacado, broccoli, potato, zucchini, beans (mashed...not whole, not puréed), and a few more that I can't think of. I also let her eat purée off a spoon, but she feeds it to herself. (Yes, I'm crazy...yes, it's a disaster...lol.)

Following! We've been doing purees and she takes those well.  I have her a tiny bit of mashed potatoes, but she spit it right back out. I'd like to try more solids, but in don't think she'll take them. 
We did get some wafers though.  They're cashed Happy Baby teething wafers and my daughter loves them.  They dissolve immediately so I'm not worried about her choking.

Eggs (scrambled or fried, hardboiled or omelette cut into strips), avocado (peeled and cut into strips), mango (cut into strips with the peel on because it's easier to grab, just carefully take away peel so he doesn't eat it), strawberry (I just give him the whole thing but you can cut it), steamed carrots, steamed broccoli. Those are all we have tried so far, but Pinterest has a lot of great ideas and recipes for finger foods!
