Oatmeal and rice cereal actually have nonutritional value. You can skip it all together and start the veggies!

When my daughter showed all solid readiness signs. We didn't give rice cereal or oatmeal.

6 months when he was ready (could sit up unassisted, and could use the pincer grab with his fingers. I skipped all rice/oats And went straight to veggies. We do BLW so usually he will eat what I eat but without the seasonings.

I started with oatmeal cereal bc rice cereal can sometimes constipate & it's good to prevent iron deficiencies since they don't get as much iron from breastmilk after 6 months. I gave him passion oatmeal cereal for a couple days to try it out. Then started adding fruit to it. I just made sure to wait a few days between introducing new fruits.

I will skip all rice cereals because they offer no nutritional value. I am baby led weaning and will intorude solids once she can sit fully unassisted and pinch her fingers together to pick up food.
