Is Zika still an issue? I don't really hear about it anymore...

Zika isn't a new virus. It has been around for more than 60 years. Of course it is still an issue, but I personally believe the zika virus was only in the news to distract from something else. The media tends to do this a lot.

I just go back from a trip to Cuba. Before booking I hesitated and thought about the risks. In the end I decided I don't want to put my life on hold for something that may not happen for a while.

I work for American red cross and yes it is still an issue if you want to know where the risk areas are you can go to the cbc website to figure out if zika is and issue in the area you will be traveling to. Also be careful of if your SO goes to any of those areas because they can bring it back. But there are blood tests now so that we can test for that and if you ever get any of the symptoms and are pregnant its always best to ask your doctor to be on the safe side for your baby

It will always be an issue as long as its not eradicated. Where there are mosquitoes there is zika.
