working out post partum

Hey ladies! 
I am 15 weeks pp and I recently started going to the gym this week. I've gone twice so far. I told myself I was going to ease into it but once I was there, I couldn't stop myself. It felt so good to be back at it! I did some moderate exercising such as: elliptical, stairs and bicycle. Then I did some light weight lifting and squats. Now I'm pretty sore today as expected but my vaginal area hurts too. When I was on the eliptical, I thought I felt a little sore but thought nothing of it. Is it possible that I'm over doing it? Or, can you re-tear that area by exercising too hard? Silly question, I know. It feels good to do something other than housework for exercise.
