Pill + Copper IUD?

Kelly
Hi ladies!
I've been thinking about changing up my birth control-- I'm not the best about taking my pill at the same time every day (my schedule is very erratic, it's not necessarily an issue of forgetfulness) and I get nervous that my pill + condoms combo isn't the most effective... I don't trust boys and their terrible condom knowledge.
I've thought about doing the implant, but I'm moving around over the next few months so I'm nervous to do that without access to a doctor who can remove it (my doctor at school probably isn't qualified to take out an implant, whereas she probably could take out an IUD). I'm just not 100% sold on it because I have no idea how I'll react to it. I also have PCOS and get ovarian cysts from time to time, so I'm not sure if the implant takes care of that.
My next theory is to do a copper IUD in addition to my current pill. Again, I need a hormonal element to my BC to prevent cysts. Does anyone have experience with the copper IUD? My mom seems to think it's unsafe. Any help is appreciated, thank you!!
