Skipping periods

so my girlfriend is coming tomorrow! and this week was placebo week (so I would of gotten my period) so I decided to just start the new pack. I woke up with diarrhea and was very nauseous! is this normal? was it bad idea to skip my period? it's my first time skipping the placebo pills!
