Will you be "out" this summer with your newborn?

Hi, Will you ladies be out with your newborn after he/she is born? I ask because I'm in New Jersey and we don't really get great weather here.. so anytime it's sunny I'm ready to get up and go seize the day. I'm a stay at home mom, my 9 & 11 -year-old are getting out of school, so normally we would all go out and about. I'm going to try to get out as much as possible before the baby comes, but even then I know it's somewhat limited with me being so big/due. So my question is, Will you mothers be out this summer with your newborn? I don't plan on being out much until my infant builds her immunity, but I hate the idea of staying indoors during the summer! 😥 I know it's a sacrifice for your baby and that's why am willing to do it but it sort of hurts my soul! Who wants to take the baby out in the winter anyway?? LOL

Yes we will! As soon as I'm able, me & baby will return to work with my husband and kids.

Whether that be 3 weeks, or whatever. In my opinion, keeping them sheltered doesn't help build the immune system.

I will, as soon as I can walk up and down my 3 flights of stairs to/from my apartment without any issues lol. I live in NY so I understand the whole weather issue, this year had been crappy so far!

It will be summertime in Georgia. No amount of coaxing will keep me outside longer than necessary! I can barely stay outside now without my heart rate soaring and turning bright red.

I'm in Jersey as well. Honestly, you have to pick and choose wisely. Going to festivals, fairs, crowded mall days, loud restaurants, places where it'll be HOT and you have nowhere to hide (camping, hiking, etc) THOSE are all not good ideas.
However, when you keep everyone in the family clean (wash hands, sanitizer), bring tons of sun protection and make sure you will have a nice place with AC nearby (like at the shore, I wouldn't go to Seaside but I'd definitely go to Long Branch), and always have your newborns basic schedule and feeding in mind, you'll be fine. Just don't let strangers hold or touch the baby, don't overexpose the baby (I have a newborn wrap and it is perfect for this) and even if it's a short trip, bring all of yours and baby's creature comforts in the car (stroller, covers, light blankets, boppy pillow). 
Stay cool, stay un-crowded and stay protected from the sun and germs.

Not really. Baby is due 07/29 and of course could easily come in August. Putting me at almost the start of fall at 6 weeks postpartum. Other than to see close family, we do not take our newborns anywhere, even church, till they're at least 6 weeks due to the building of immune system and establishing of breastfeeding!

My first was born the last week of May.  We went out during the summer.  I tried to not be outside too long and mostly went places indoors.  A winter baby would be a different story since so many people are sick in the winter.  I think it's safer during the summer.

Once LO gets their older brother will be 19 months old. We have to go out, to daycare and to keep us all busy. Trying to keep a toddler couped up in the house is a nightmare. But we will make sure we go places that have air condition. We live in the South.

Yes.. I have 3 other kids and will NOT be couped up in the house. I won't be at like a children's museum with all the germs and stuff but I'm not sitting inside all day.

Look at your areas peak whooping cough season. Most are in the summer.

Building an immune system is great but any pediatrician will tell you not in the first 3 months. A baby who gets sick in the first 3 months is more likely to end up hospitalized for complications.

She will be a preemie (induction due to health reasons) so no we will not. I take the first 6 weeks as convalescence anyway (2 weeks in bed, 2 weeks near bed, 2 weeks around the house) so my body can heal (I have had friends tear ligaments because they rush back to normal life).

We are homebodies anyway so it won't be hard.
