Mucus Plug?

Question

I'm currently 36 weeks pregnant, how do I know if I'm starting to lose my mucus plug or not? I have normal discharge every day and have been for pretty much my whole pregnancy so far. Will there be a drastic/obvious difference if it's my mucus plug? FTM here so please don't make fun of me lol

Honestly when I've seen the TMI pictures of a mucous plug that everyone agrees is definitely the plug, it's a HUGE gloopy, palm sized ball of mucous. I know it sounds appetizing, but that's how I would describe it lol.
  
You can also go into labor without losing your plug!
