How to protect 4 month baby from sun?

Question

I know you're not suppose to use sunscreen on babies younger than 6 months (but if you did, let me know which one you used), so how did you protect your baby? I'm gonna be somewhere where there isn't shade and I haven't found a hat small enough for her head. What else can I do? Help!

Sunscreen is not reccomended as they do not test on babies younger than 6 mths. Ask your pediatrician. We used babyganics and Blue Lizard from 3 months on. Be sure to test on a small area in advanced for reaction and give a bath after. We also use a UV blanket (iplay has a good one) that we're still using at 7 mths. And typical stuff like UV shirt, hats, etc. I've been taking mine to beach since (almost) 3 mths old. We travel a lot, she's never gotten any sun so would def recommend those sunscreens. Also have a Tommy Bahama beach tent we loveeeeeee! Better safe than burned! Good luck!!! ☀️😃

Sunscreen is not recommended for children under 6 months. Hats, body covering, umbrellas, and simply avoiding the sun are all good options. If you absolutely cannot avoid the sun, than sunscreen is needed. Read labels. Test on baby's skin first. Personally I go for all natural options without ingredients I can't identify. I have three little boys, all fair skinned, 2 of them red heads. We sunscreen a lot around here. I've never had issue avoiding the sun before 6 months and that includes a trip to the beach. Umbrellas, hats, bathing suits with long sleeved shirts, wetsuit, whatever is necessary. Personally my boys are never ever out in the summer without a hat on, ever.

We use the pink one from Coppertone. Its for babies. There are days we are out in the sun for hours. And now that is summer, we are spending weekends at the water park every weekend

Before my daughter was 6 months we dressed her in light long sleeve shirt and pants and had a wide brimmed hat on her. For the stroller we use the canopies and we have a UV screen. We also bought her a long sleeve swim shirt and a pop up tent for the beach/pool. She always wears a hat and sunglasses now when we are in the sun. I now take her out without sunscreen if it's before 10 or after 5 with just a wide brimmed hat because I do believe that sun is good for us in small time segments outside of the peak hours of the day.

Where will you be? I can only recommend covering up and possibly using an umbrella or blanket for a stroller.

Ask the baby's ped and I recommend if you can't use it at all. To use a sun hat for babies and to cover the stroller with a very light blakent or baby will get way to hot.
