TMI!!!!! Postpartum period bleeding?

Question

I'm 40 days postpartum and my period started yesterday.
I gave birth to my first 40 days ago vaginally with no difficulties at all.
My uterus took a lot longer than the midwifes were happy with so they put me on antibiotics for 2 weeks and said to watch my blood loss as it can be dangerous if it suddenly starts to "turn on like a tap" 
Is this bleeding normal for giving birth vaginally 40 days ago? 
My period before getting pregnant were mild but it never looked like this and never had any small clots.
I know your body can change a lot after birth but I just want to make sure this is normal. (even with the small clot on my pad and amount of BRIGHT red blood in the toilet.)

Normal. A woman's periods usually change drastically after childbirth.

Did you end up getting checked? 
My pp bleeding stopped at 5 weeks, a week later I got my period and I have now had heavy bleeding for 12 days. Every time I got up or even just sitting for a while, blood would come out like a tap :( I left it thinking that my first period would just be horrible anyway so I didn’t worry too much. 
I just had an ultrasound and my endometrial lining didn’t close, it’s open and has a massive clot and some other stuff blocking it. The sonographer said whatever it is, it’s irritating my uterus making me bleed more and I will have to get it cleaned out and hope it doesn’t get infected before then. 
Just wondering if yours ended up being normal or something else like mine?

I wouldn't stress (: it seems normal to me. This is a normal period for me. 
If you get scared, call your doctor. But I think you're fine.
