Acne transformation + treatment that works!
I'm kinda nervous posting this bc I've never put myself out there like this before 😬 but I really want to help anybody who's struggling with hormonal or overly oily skin acne.
The first picture (top left) to last pic (bottom right) are taken about 6-8 months apart. I don't really have any pics of my skin when it was REALLY bad, I was too self conscious but these are close enough. 6-8 months is about how long it took my skin to completely clear up. (I only get 1 or 2 pimples right before my period now & they're gone in days). I used to be so embarrassed about my appearance & refused to go anywhere without makeup, I've been in and out of a dermatologists office like a bee in a hive, tried so many different creams and pills but it all just caused irritation and dryness or stopped working after a month or two. If you struggle from the same thing, I FEEL YOU!!!
Everything works differently on everybody bc we're all unique but here's my regimen that I started about 7 months ago:
-gentle cleanser 2 times a day (I use noxema)
-if you have current pimples wait for them to form a whitehead (ready to pop phase) and gently extract them with a hot washcloth
-immediately after any extractions clean/disenfect pimple (I use oxy pads, a salicylic acid wipe)
-if a pimple isn't ready to pop, leave it alone! Playing with your zits will make them 10x worse, believe me, I was a chronic pimple picker. Instead of picking, dab 1 drop of tea tree oil onto your finger tip and apply directly to pimple, it should be substantially smaller by the next day
-every night mix 20ish drops of witch hazel with 3-5 drops of tea tree essential oil on a cotton round or pad and gently dab on the skin paying extra attention to trouble areas
-moisturize with an oil free facial lotion every morning after washing your face (preferably one with spf--I mix Clinique dramatically different moisturizing gel with neutrogena breakout free sunscreen lotion)
-if you wake up with a pimple, dab 1 drop of tea tree oil onto your finger tip and gently apply directly to just the pimple, not the skin surrounding. Wait 5ish minutes and then apply lotion & sunscreen like normal
-use a bentonite clay mask at least once a week for 30 min. After washing off don't touch your skin or put anything on it
-exfoliate once a week, and not the same day as your mask.
(I usually exfoliate every Friday and do a clay mask every Sunday--just my preference)
-DRINK. WATER. It really does help, might not cure the acne but it will keep your skins elasticity and hydration (it's been proven) which gives you more of a "healthy glow" and improves the skins healing time-it bounces back from blemishes quicker!
-always wash your face before touching your hands
Again, this is what worked for me, and several other people I read about online. It's definitely a less expensive, less damaging treatment option than benzoyl peroxide and epiduo and any other chemical a doctor will prescribe you, but to each their own!!!
Post your acne journey pics too if you decide to try this, or share whatever else works for you!!! Love and best wishes to all of you (:
(Also if anybody knows of any awesome remedies for getting rid of acne scarring, please let me know)
