Limit on babies after c-section?

Question

Was anyone told or recommended on only having 2 babies via c-section? 
My fist child was a c-section and so of course my second will need to be delivered via c-section as well. I'm afraid of hearing the words "we don't recommend you having a third child" 😬 We always planned on having at least three kids and possibly four depending where we are at with life on the fourth.

I've heard each c-section becomes more risky. I just had my third and I know someone whose had six-yikes!

I spoke to my OBGYN specifically about this about a month ago. I'm unable to give birth vaginally because of the shape of my pelvis. She said that generally speaking you can have up to 4 c-sections safely but that it really depends on the healing of each individual section. Some women don't heal as well as others and develop more scar tissue or thinning of the uterine wall so whether or not pregnancy is an option needs to be specifically evaluated after each baby/c-section.

My sister in law had 4 kids and all of them c section! I had always thought you could only have two via c section and when I met her I was in shock 🤔

That's why I'm trying for a VBAC with my second. My midwife is fully on board!

The risks of having another csection, or any csection, are far greater than that of having a VBAC!

With every pregnancy after a csection, you risk the placenta fusing too deep into the uterus, and also your uterus becoming thinner. These can cause life long problems. Also, the risk of a uterine rupture is less than 1% my midwife said it's a 0.03% if you've only had one previous low transverse incision. Also, your baby has a higher risk of diabetes in the future if it is born via csection. I'd recommend looking into at least a trial of labor.

Every csection you have is more dangerous though.

My mom had 3 babies via Section! First in 1995, second in 1997, and third in 2007. Also, they did other surgeries via her c Section scar..... they never said anything about her not needing to have more children. I had a csection a year ago and my doctor told me I could even try for a VBAC  if I want to:) but each individual is different. And each body heals differently. So that's something you'll need to ask a doctor! :) Goodluck!

I had a my first C-section 12 yrs ago with my son my second C-section on 3-15-16 and will be having another on 11-4-17 I'm always high risk and they've never put a limit on them. So I wouldn't worry to much. 😊
