6 month old fever

My 6 mth old has had a fever for 24 hours now (highest 101.5 ear thermometer) but she's been acting totally normal (feeding, wetting diapers, poop is same consistency.). I'm a FTM so could this be teething? Called the peds office and they rec waiting 72 hours if fever continues bc she responds to acetaminophen. Any advice?
