Do married people wear condoms?

Ok so I had a uti about a week ago. The infections actually got into my bloodstream and spread to my reproductive organs. The first question the doctor asked me was had I been having unprotected sex...? Well, yeah. I'm married. I'm on the pill, why would I need a condom? I didn't know if I was supposed to or what? What do y'all think? Are married people supposed to have sex with condoms? And why ? Does it help with infections? Now I'm parionoid about getting an infection or something? How can I make sure I don't. Help!
