5lb baby at 33 weeks?

So I'm only 33 weeks right now and they said my baby girl is about 5lbs 4oz right now.. that's 1lb bigger than what she's supposed to be. I have gestational diabetes and was wondering if I'll have to be induced if she gets to big?

Sounds right on track to me. My baby was 4lbs exactly at 31 weeks exactly and i was told he is suppose to gain .5lbs a week, which would make him 5lbs at 33 weeks! I do not have GD and have been told my measurments are perfect.

I had a sonogram this past week at 34 and mine was 5 lbs too, no gd. I think you're right on track!

They won't induce just for size but you'll be closely monitored to make sure you are both healthy so induction may still happen.

My second baby came out small and stayed small, but she was and is healthy and happy. Sometimes babies are just small.

The weight they give you during ultrasounds is really just an estimate. My son was measuring 8 lbs 6 oz at 38 wks and came out 7 lbs 11oz 3 days later. I was induced due to the top number of my bp being way too high. 5 lbs at 33 weeks sounds about right though. You'll likely only be induced if it is medically necessary, like in my case they were worried about the placenta no longer being able support my son.
