One of the scariest moments of my life!!
So we just moved to a new house (the first time we have owned a home!). I'm still learning the place. One of the things I'm getting used to is that the doorknobs lock so that you can still open them from the inside but you can't from the outside. I've never had a doorknob like that before.
Well my dog was outside and started barking at something in the yard. I had my 9-month in her high chair. She had just finished eating. I went outside to get my dog and shut the door behind me because I didn't know what she was barking at and didn't want to let it inside. I laughed when I realized it was a deer. I convinced my dog to come back, but when we tried to go back inside... The door was locked...
I went into hysterics. I tried both doors, all windows, and the garage (we don't have clickers). My phone was even inside. I tried 3 different neighbors before someone finally let me inside to make a call. By that time I was crying and shaking uncontrollably. I called my husband. He went as fast as he could but it took him 50 minutes to get home. I stayed outside the door crying, praying, and listening to my baby scream the entire hour.
It was one of the scariest moments of my life. I had 3 panic attacks during it. By the time I got inside, she wouldn't have anything to do with me, which absolutely broke my heart... Then she took a 2.5 hour nap. Thank goodness, she is perfectly fine and happy now. Mama is still a little shaken. I'm grateful to God that my husband was able to come right home (he works far away).
Needless to say, that we put the extra key outside immediately to make sure that this NEVER happens again! And mama and baby have been playing and cuddling ever since she woke up.
