Nuvaring and Periods

I've been on the ring for a few months now and I still haven't gotten used to when i get my period. As of what I was told, when you take the ring out you get your period, but I thought that you were supposed to get it the day you take the ring out. But my period doesn't come until 2 days after, does this mean that I should keep the ring in for those 2 days?

Can you explain when you get your period if your on the Nuva ring?
