Natural Hair
I have noticed over the years that there is hardly, if any, African American women on tv or commercials with natural hair. It's either straighten or curled. Yes, it looks pretty, but for many of us it's difficult to find inspiration within our hair and we spend hours damaging it with heat just to look like they do on tv. I only straighten my hair maybe once or twice a year. I have kept it natural for years now and have gained self confidence in my hair. I try to be the role model for those other women who put in weaves, wigs, etc. and go as far as hating their natural hair. I wish there were more African American role models to show that thick, curly hair is beautiful too.
