Would anyone else have had a problem with their boyfriend saying that they love you bc if your ethnicity. I don't want to be sexy bc im black it loved for it either.

I would be offended because I want my significant other to love me for me and not my skin color. They can appreciate my ethnicity without fetishizing it and if not, that's gross and they have to go because that is racist.

Idk I know there's a long history of fetishizing black girls. "You're so sexy, so exotic, so ethnic and I love your hair!" That sort of thing. It's problematic and perpetuates the "Jezebel" stereotype, which has real social ramifications even today (think Anita Hill). It makes ME uncomfortable that he said that I can't imagine how YOU feel. 
However, it sounds like he's ignorant of this and really trying to compliment you in an extremely misguided way. I'd explain to him what's up and why that that makes you uncomfortable.

It wasn't racist as he wasn't degrading or anything he said he loves you because if it, one of the many reasons he loves you is because your black and to him black is beautiful

It isn't racist because he isn't using trying to say he is superior to you because of color. My husband will tell me he loves me because of this that or the other all the time. It's always something different. There are a million reasons why he loves me and sometimes he points out only one thing at a time. It doesn't mean that's the only reason he loves me. Just the one he is talking about in that moment
