Sex after miscarriage.... voting time

Been 4 weeks since my Mc and no period yet.. my relationship seems non existent and not intimate anymore... my nurse at my ob recommends wait until ur cycle starts to have sex without protection... condoms hurt and they are frustrating to use... I know there are spermicide gel but we don't have any and I heard it's not effective.... What to do, what to do....
