Why do you need ice during labor?

According to Lorleigh on the Gilmore Girls she didn't see a point in them but it sure was fun to pelt the nurses with them lol

I didn't eat any ice but I had a clothe dipped in ice water to wipe me down because you get freaking hot trying to birth a baby, especially with no meds! Also (even though I think it's ridiculous) some doctors won't let you eat during labor but you can eat ice.

I was so thirsty! But drinking water then pushing made me nauseous.

If you're induced and they're restricting foods/liquids (in case of a c-section) a little bit of ice is super relieving on a dry throat.

For both cooling your face and for hydration. The cold felt really good and it helped with that dry mouth feeling. I recommend taking chapstick.

For me, it was hydration and cold because your body gets hot. Oh, and hospital ice chips are the bomb.

I didn't eat nor drink for over 24 hours. Those contractions will have you forgetting to do so 😂😂😂. My first words after having my son was "can I eat?" 😂
