unable to breastfeed/bonding?

For anyone unable to breastfeed, was your child still able to bond with you?

I started breastfeeding and then had to start supplementing. Honestly, my bombs was better when I started supplementing. In the beginning, breastfeeding was hard and painful (especially trying to pump too) so I was making enough, but never enjoyed it. When my supply dropped he was always hungry and angry & I was stressed and depressed. Now we're both happy with his feeding schedule and I've never felt closer to him.

I breastfeed, but there are so many moms who can't or don't want to and bond just fine with their babies. Breastfeeding a great way to connect with your baby but it's only one of many ways. If you're formula feeding you can still do skin to skin, sing to them, read to them, talk to them constantly (I narrate what I'm doing all day long, example: "and now mommy is washing the dishes so daddy and I have clean plates to put our food on" lol I feel ridiculous sometimes but they say it's good for development).

Do dads bond with their babies?  Do dads breastfeed?

The bond breastfeed relationship claim is one of my biggest pet peeves.  The bond comes from spending time with your baby and interacting with your baby.  The breast is not what makes the equation work.

I cannot breastfeed and there's nobody my little guy would rather be with than me. Didn't effect our bonding.

I didn't breastfeed and my bond was totally unaffected. My son is healthy and happy :)

I hated breastfeeding. And honestly the bottle was so much more relaxing and I was able to bond JUST AS WELL as any other mom can with their child. Daddy was able to bond too. So it was a double bonus. Don't ever ever feel bad if you don't breastfeed. Your baby won't judge you :)

I do breastfeed but I never got the warm fuzzies from it. I just do it because it's good for my baby, but that was never our bonding time. So breastfeeding is not the end all be all for bonding. I felt closest to my daughter when I just held and cuddled her while she slept, being able to calm her down when no one else could, seeing her smile and get excited when I enter a room, crawling toward me as fast as she can while saying "mama!" Babies know their mamas regardless of how they are fed. Just love your baby and they will love you back!

Yes! I had to stop at 2 or 3 weeks because it was making him sick. Very sensitive tummy. I was distraught but just wanted him fed. Feeding with formula and bottle still allows bonding and you can always still snuggle. He's now 10 weeks and a mama's boy
