Maybe early signs of prego?

Yesterday I had a day of very spotting with some pink/brown coloration and about a half hour of mild cramps. Today all that is gone and I'm 9DPO and 5 days away from a period. I had sex everyday(sometimes twice) during my fertile period and this is our third month trying. I'm really hoping this time something sticks... Does that sound like implantation signs? I took a very generic/cheap prego test and it came back negative. Maybe I tested too soon?
