Getting Over Somebody

Is it really harder to get over somebody more than we think it is? I'm tired of the wishy washy situationship that I've been in for almost a total for four years. He won't commit to me but claims he wants a relationship on FB that I'm really not even supposed to be able to see. I can't keep doing this to myself. It's killing me internally and I'm just not happy nor am I myself anymore. I've blocked his number and refuse to have contact with him. It'll be hard but I'd rather hurt temporarily while getting over him than hurting continuously wasting my time on somebody who is incapable of being loved.
