What age should students start learning about Sex Ed?

Note: - by Sex Ed I don't mean schools only teaching about puberty, but also including talk about safe sex, masturbation, lgbt+, etc as a whole.
- I know not everywhere provides lessons in Sex Ed but this is a hypothetical scenario that does. 
- (Bare in mind puberty starts for most girls at around age 9-14, and 12-16 for most boys)
Bonus: what age did you first learn about sex ed? And did you gain enough crucial information to guide you?

As early as they can understand. As horrible as it sounds, I think even first graders should learn basics about anatomy, just so more can be done and can be caught if they're being sexually abused. I'm not saying talks about masturbation but just learning which body parts are theirs and not for strangers or older adults.

I mean, my kid is 4, and he knows a generic version of where babies come from and how mommy's feed with their boobies. Sex education is an ongoing lesson for children, at age appropriate stages.

Around 12 sounds good to me. I think LGBT stuff can come a lot sooner than safe sex discussions, though.

I feel like you can introduce basic concepts of consent, girls/boys anatomy, lgbt people, etc from a very early age. I learned about puberty in depth at 9 (mostly because her mom got her period at 9 and didn't want me thinking I was dying like she did). I got the proper sex talk at 10-11 I think? I think that's pretty good pacing. After all, you don't have to introduce everything all at once

I was taught a little too much too soon... my mom is a bit bizarre.
But I'd teach in stages. Usually it's driven by questions by the little one. I start in the 4th grade which is the first sex Ed/puberty lesson at our local schools, I build on that and give tailored lesson and answer questions they weren't willing to ask in front of peers and set expectations and values our family holds.

What age have kids started having babies at now middle school? Maybe teach the parents to watch their children so they stopped getting knocked up in middle school while teaching the middle schoolers safe sex.
