Finally!
Yesterday 6/16/17 my baby Joslyn was born!
Story time!
It started around 8 am on Thursday. I had semi regular contractions all day until 9pm that night. Where it continued every 6-7 minutes apart and got closer. Around 1 am I waited for it to be 5 minutes apart for an hour. After 30 minutes they were becoming 3-4 minutes apart! Headed to the hospital at 3am. Longest 25 minute car ride ever.
Got to triage and was 6cm dilated! Yay! And was then admitted. Was 7cm once I arrive at my labor room. The plan was natural but once I was crying and sobbing during contractions I agreed to an epidural. After the painful epidural which ended up ineffective I laid there screaming involuntarily in pain with a new useless hole in my back. Any medication they tried to put through it didn't work. AND I was 9 cm post procedure! OB on call was driving to the hospital from home :(
Once OB finally arrived it was pushing time. I was so scared and didn't want to push but the contractions hurt so bad and I couldn't stop crying and screaming. 5-10 minutes of pushing later I got my previous baby girl! Had some tearing where I didn't even know you can tear at! Like the labia! What?!
In end, still a little traumatized but so grateful to be done! I wanted a natural delivery and got a failed epidural. So it was pretty much natural birth but now with a painful hole on my back! I profusely apologized to the staff about my screaming and lack of following directions during the whole thing lol. As a nurse myself I should know that they're used to it.
Now learning to breastfeed and it's painful but reminding myself it's worth it! All for her!
