am I crazy?

So my shower is tomorrow and I was talking to my friend and I said that I hope everybody gets things off the registry and not get whatever they want because I have so much already and the things on the registry is what I need.... so she told me I was being ungrateful... am I being ungrateful because I have over 100 items I took the time out to put on the registry that I would like people to get.... and no this friend does not have any kids

I say just be grateful for what you do get. People don't HAVE to get you gifts they CHOOSE to get you one🤷🏻‍♀️

I don't think it's ungrateful. I feel the same way. We don't put things on registries because we're needy, we do it to help people so they know what we need. It takes away the guesswork. The registry is helpful to those who don't have kids or to let people know what we already have. Of course I'll be grateful for everything I get, but I think buying off a registry just makes it easier for everyone. Not much has been purchased off mine, and my shower is on Saturday. I have noticed, though, I think some people buy off registries but don't mark it down as purchased.

I say no you aren't ungrateful. The days of random shower gifts that you don't even use or need should be over. We don't make the money that previous generations did and we also have restrictions and safety regulations that often mean we need to buy items new. I have had a few people tell me the same thing and I don't care. I need what I need, if you love me and want to help my new family buy us what I ask for or don't waste your money. Handmade sentimental gifts would be an exception in my opinion.

I find it crazy no one looks at registeries.

I'm 22 and maybe it's because all of my friends are older, they're mostly in their early 30s, but everyone bought off the registry. 
I was really thankful.

No one hardly ever looks at registrations. I've had two baby showers and everyone brought what they wanted 🤷🏽‍♀️ I had to exchange somethings for what I needed. I had a lot of doubles, so...

I understand where you're coming from, I also understand where your friend is coming from and how it can appear to be ungrateful. The fact that you have friends and family that want to celebrate you and the baby and get things to help you so the cost of preparing for a baby isn't so much of a burden is a blessing. It can be frustrating to register for things and then not get them but that is just kind of the way it goes. I think in this situation it would have been better to not say anything about the gifts. I hope you're able to mend the hurt with your friend.

I got some things off my registry but mostly people buy what they want. It hasn't been a problem though because almost everything can be exchanged for store credit. I got over $200 back to target just exchanging things I didn't need or got multiple of. Now I can get other things I still need. And people will never know.

No one bought anything off mine. I literally just ended up with a bunch of newborn clothes. I appreciate everything but I didn't get any essentials and he's a summer baby he won't need clothes really beside a few onesies.

Had my baby shower 2 weeks ago and only 1 thing was bought off my registry and it was wipes. I was so thankful because it was a huge box but I got so much clothing. I went into it knowing most people dont buy from the registry
