Pros and Cons of breastfeeding?

Question

What are the benefits? What does it do for the baby? What are some things I should expect?

Sorry this is my first baby and I'm nervous and have tons of questions. I'm 14 weeks and 6 days. 😊

Breastfeeding offers your baby a lot of immunity and health benefits, breast milk has the ability to Taylor to your babies needs as far as when he's sick, when it's morning versus night, etc and that's awesome.

Breastfeeding is hard though. Breastfed babies sleep less and eat more frequently. Nipples are sore in the beginning. Babies cluster feed when they're young, for hours at a time, especially during growth spurts which is something no one told me about!

Breastfeeding is great because it's free! There's also no bottle buying, washing or sterilizing. No moxing formula, and you don't have to worry about bringing anything with you to feed baby!

It requires a lot of commitment though. Sometimes babies go on nursing strikes and you feel like you're going to rip your hair out. Sometimes they won't latch at all. We had to use a nipple shield for 5 months!
It's a lot of bonding which is heartwarming, however your partner may feel left out, and you might never get away from your baby. We tried to go out for 3 hours last night and got called home after 30 minutes because baby wanted mommy. It's cute, until you realize you're the only person who can feed him, calm him, and put him to sleep.

I do recommend it. Pumping sucks but it's good to have a stash for emergencies and letting someone else feed baby! It's an experience like no other!

Also, formula is not evil. It won't kill your baby. If you decide to use formula your baby will still need and love you.

I did both! Breastfed & formula fed. I would do middle of night feedings and morning feeding for formula and then the feedings during day be breast milk! That way, hubby got up in the middle of the night to feed the baby half the nights!  It was a life saver and worked for us! My babe also slept longer and seemed more full on formula so it was a win win! I'm pregnant with #2 and plan to breastfeed and formula feed again! Best of both worlds! And mine had no trouble going from bottle to breast
