play yards or roam free?

Question

My son is pretty much crawling now and I'm not sure where to put him so he can roam.

Are you guys just baby proofing everything so they can freely roam the house/a room or does anyone have a play yard?

I was thinking about getting a play yard so my son has room but is confined. We have wood and tile floors and two cats so I figured I could pad that area and keep it free of pet hair better than my floors ha.

I let my little guy roam but we need to get better at baby proofing so when I have to wash bottles or use the bathroom I put him in the play pin with his toys. It's there and set up if we need it but he enjoys cruising

I would highly recommend if you have hard wood floors to allow baby to crawl and move around on the floors. Just keep is clean and let baby go. I never "confined" my first two I let them play wherever I was. I am looking forward to the kitchen playing with pots and pans again :)

I literally just put my baby on the floor and let her go wherever. I personally don't think babies should be confined to a "play area" in their own house. I also have a 1.5 year old that has free range of the house also.
