How long before seeking fertility help?

I have been off BC since last June, so a year now, and have been TTC since then basically. I have gotten serious about tracking ovulation the last few months knowing I was coming up to the year mark off of BC. At what point do I go in and discuss fertility help with my doctor?

My doctor saw me after 3 months and we tested my husbands sperm already. If you are at a year, I'd make that step.

I say go now, it can't hurt. I know it can be a little nerve wracking to go to your doctor and have this conversation but I felt so much better after I did. My doctor just helped me come up with a course of action and it was nice to know what the plan was.

I scheduled my appointment to be right around a year of TTC. My doctor said she accepts patients who have tried over 6 months if they are over 25. People always told me I needed to wait a year, but I wish I would have gone in sooner. Not sure how old you are, but you are definitely in the time frame where it would be fine to contact someone to get some testing done.

they say if you're younger than maybe 30 or 35, you should go in about 6 months after trying. but if you're younger, than after 1 year of trying. i really hope it works out for you, i'm wishing you the best of luck! don't lose hope!

I think most drs will start having that conversation with you if it's been a year. I had been off birth control since about August 2015 and was getting very discouraged by last march. However I only really started to pin down my ovulation dates and get serious about having sex at the ideal times the last six months or so. I got my first ever positive on June 4th and will be 6 weeks this Wednesday. If you think you ovulate each month and feel as if your periods are regular I'd say keep on trying! Remember our eggs only last 12-24hrs after being released! You got this girl :) Wishing you the best of luck!
