Period like cramps... could it be contractions?

So I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like I may have lost mucus plug last night. (I googled some pictures) And then around 2am I started having period like cramps. Only 30w5d. Didn't know if anyone else has experienced this...

I've been having cramps for days. My doctor said they're normal and Braxton hicks. I've also heard that your mucus plug can grow back so loosing it isn't always a big deal

I hope this comment helps you. I saw your post and HAD to tell you.

Long story short, I went to the hospital just out of curiosity because I was having period cramps at 27 weeks.
I convinced myself they were normal "pregnancy cramps"

Well...turns out they were actual contractions and they had caused my cervix to efface 70% and dilate to a 1

Don't take the chance.

They ended up wanting me to stay in the hospital for weeks to follow...I had to get on a magnesium IV, I got terbutaline shots, got out on procardia etc...
They also gave my baby steroid shots for lung development. 
Before I left, they gave me progesterone shots.

It ain't fun. So catch it sooner than later...go in!
