I'm late and that never happens

So my period was due yesterday and I'm never late...literally never. I have stopped taking bc and me and my boyfriend are not using any sort of protection so if it were to happen we would be ok with it. Haveing major cramping on my lower left side just wondering if any ladies have suggestions on what I should do? Wait it out a few more days or get a test?
